Author Interview - CS Reid

Image of CS Reid

What is your favorite place?

The library is definitely one of my favorite places. There are so many amazing libraries in Los Angeles, but The Inglewood Library is my favorite place to check out books and to complete some of my writing projects.

Where would you love to live?

I would love to have a ranch house in the desert (California or New Mexico). When I view the desert, I am able to glimpse a semblance of God’s enigmatic mind.

Why do you write?

I write to achieve a sense of inner peace. One has to have discipline to be any kind of competent artist. When I write, I experience an overweening sense of purpose.

What kinds of YA books do you write?

My books are founded in stimulating the intellectual growth of adolescents.

It’s great when youngsters read books that are humorous, but there should also be a substantive narrative as the foundation of the overall structure.

How did you come up with the title?

I study jazz guitar, so the title appeared in midair, as I was plucking the strings.

Can you tell us about your main character?

Calliope Spencer is a resilient force of nature. Calliope views herself as a

leader who wants to complete her literary assignments according to her

timetable.
